page 30 of etiolated. a doctor asks, "have you been feeling depressed?" author robin around age 14 answers aloud "no more than usual" while thinking, "is my depression bad? will i be institutionalized? what is a usual amount of depression?" robin sits on an exam table. an arrow points to them from the words "hypermobile joints and fainting". the next four panels are a clipboard, papers, and a paper being shredded. they read "my doctor that cared didn't care enough. he didn't keep up with the literature. he didn't ask me follow-up questions. his office threw away my records before i was a legal adult." the last row of the page shows four more panels with the caption: i was a volatile child. panel one - fought my sibling and punched a hole in a door. a figure with a ponytail punches a hole in a hollow-frame door. panel two - museum meltdown. a screaming circle stands next to a nonplussed circle in an area surrounded by crowds of circles politely minding their business. panel three - a figure screams "get out of my desk" so loudly that the next classroom over can hear. panel four - i will fight you if you don't leave him alone. two figures stand on either side of a front door. a figure stands between them, pointing aggressively at one figure.
